Meet Dr Amanda Ward

Graduating from Monash University with honours in 2007, Dr Ward commenced specialist obstetrics and gynaecology training in 2011, working across Monash Health, Eastern Health and Ballarat Base Hospital.

Dr Ward places a strong emphasis on education, so patients understand their options at each stage of their care.

As an obstetrician, Dr Ward cares for patients with high-risk pregnancies due to pre-existing medical, surgical or mental health conditions, fetal anomalies or other complicating factors.

A mother of three, Dr Ward has first-hand experience of the demands that pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period can bring, which shapes the support she offers patients and their families.

Dr Ward has:

  • Spent six months of her training in Fiji, working and teaching local obstetrics and gynaecology trainees at Lautoka Hospital
  • Set up scholarship programs to train doctors, nurses and allied health staff in remote Tanzania
  • Worked with Murgwanza Hospital in Tanzania for 15 years, returning annually to help improve maternal health outcomes in the region
