She then undertook two international fellowships in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, firstly at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, then at the Hospital for Sick Children and Toronto Western Hospital in Canada, where she was awarded the prestigious Donald J. Morin Memorial Paediatric Ophthalmology Fellow’s Scholarship. She subsequently completed further training in adult cataract surgery in York, United Kingdom, before returning to Australia.
Dr Dondey’s clinical scope encompasses strabismus surgery in adults and children, childhood cataract surgery, neonatal eye services, including screening and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), and botulinum toxin injections for blepharospasm. She is an experienced cataract surgeon and maintains a strong interest in general adult and paediatric ophthalmology.
