Monash House welcomes Melbourne optometrists for ophthalmology education evening

Monash House Private Hospital recently welcomed more than 20 optometrists and eye care professionals for an exclusive Ophthalmology Educational Evening focused on advancing clinical knowledge, strengthening referral pathways and fostering collaboration across the eye care community.

Held at Monash House Private Hospital, the evening provided attendees with the opportunity to hear from leading ophthalmic surgeons, tour the hospital’s advanced surgical facilities and engage with the latest developments in ophthalmic care.

Expert insights from leading ophthalmologists

The educational program featured presentations from Consultant Ophthalmologists Dr Joanne Dondey and Dr Robin Abell, who shared valuable insights from their respective subspecialties in strabismus and corneal treatment.

Attendees gained a deeper understanding of current approaches to cataract surgery, strabismus management and corneal conditions, with discussions centred on evidence-based care, patient outcomes and the evolving role of multidisciplinary collaboration in ophthalmology.

In addition to the presentations, guests participated in a theatre tour and surgical simulation experience, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the technologies and facilities supporting ophthalmic procedures at Monash House.

Strengthening partnerships across the eye care community

At Monash House Private Hospital, we recognise the important role optometrists play in identifying, managing and coordinating patient care. Events such as these provide a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, build professional relationships and support stronger patient pathways between primary and specialist care.

We thank everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the evening, including our presenters, industry partners and the many optometrists who joined us for discussion and networking.
